Statistics' movement
Ten years ago, statistics began about the visits, therefore we begin to have enough passing time to take the liberty of analysing the movement.
Therefore here are the results :
Pot hole's FREQUENTING :
We can note an increase in the yearly frequenting.
It can be explained simply by the fact that the pot hole is more and more known.
The reached maximum threshold (~330 visitors) is apparently not excessive in relation to others protected caves.
The number of cavers by group changes in an increasing way.
We can suppose that the simultaneous presence of many cavers can be injurious to the good preservation of the cave. Indeed, in increasing the number of visitors, we increase the risk of damage (inattention, uproar,...) and so the rate of instantaneous pollution (CO2, mud, ...).
From this point of view, we are analysing just now and we ask keenly to reduce the size of the groups.
The yearly distribution of the number of visitors is the following :
We can see that the visitors are not fairly spread alond the year.
The "slack" period is the big holidays (July-August) and the "full" periods are during the long weekends (Easter, May, AllSaints).
Pot hole's MARKING :
For marking, satisfaction seems the done thing.
Effectiveness of the protection policy :
With time, we can see doubts becoming more and more obvious...
There are perhaps two explanations, that is :
- some minor damages due simply to the frequenting...
- rather far visits which "idealise" the cave a little...:
Globally, as the graph bellow shows it, it's a suitable measure at the present time.
